Health Canada Issues Recall for Gerber Brand Baby Cereal Due to Potential Cronobacter Contamination.
Health Canada has recalled Gerber brand Oat Banana & Mango Baby Cereal due to possible Cronobacter contamination.
The affected products were sold online and in stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and possibly other provinces and territories.
The cereal was sold in 227 g packages with a best-before date of May 30, 2025.
Health Canada advises people not to consume the recalled product and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.
The agency warns that food contaminated with Cronobacter may not show signs of spoilage but can still cause illness, including severe or fatal infections in rare cases. Especially newborns are at risk, experiencing severe intestinal infections and blood poisoning due to the bacteria.
