Health Canada’s Decision to Withhold Information on Request for Removal of SV40 Sequence in COVID Shots From Pfizer
Health Canada has declined to confirm whether it requested Pfizer to remove the Simian Virus 40 (SV40) DNA regulatory sequence from its COVID-19 vaccines on multiple occasions.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a response without revealing the redacted content of the message, which is proprietary,” Health Canada spokesperson Anna Maddison told The Epoch Times on May 3 in response to recently released internal emails and documents.
Records that were heavily redacted and obtained through the access-to-information system reveal Health Canada officials seeking to address the SV40 issue and noting Pfizer’s lack of commitment.
Even if Health Canada had made a request to Pfizer regarding this matter, it is considered proprietary information according to Health Canada. The Information Commissioner has been contacted by The Epoch Times regarding this issue.
“Once again, Health Canada cannot disclose information through a media response that is proprietary and has been exempted under the Access to Information Act,” Ms. Addison reiterated on May 8 after further questioning. A subsequent response from Ms. Maddison was not received.
Some of the released correspondence suggests that Pfizer did not fulfill certain requests made by Health Canada scientists regarding the SV40 matter.
It wasn’t until almost three years after initially authorizing the distribution of the Pfizer-BioNTech injections that Health Canada became aware of the presence of the SV40 enhancer-promoter.
The Epoch Times raised concerns about DNA impurities in mRNA injections to Health Canada on July 17, 2023. The earliest recorded discussion among Health Canada scientists regarding this issue was on July 19, according to available records.
