Helicopter Pilot Fatally Injured While Battling Fire in South Korea
SEOUL, South Korea—A tragic incident occurred during an operation to extinguish a fire in southeastern South Korea on Sunday when a helicopter crashed, resulting in the death of its pilot, according to the local fire agency.
After the fire broke out on a hill in the city of Daegu, the local fire office managed to put it out approximately one hour later.
At the moment, the identity of the pilot and the reason for the crash remain unknown.
Last month, the southeastern regions of South Korea experienced the worst wildfires on record. The devastating fires, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, destroyed vast areas of land and claimed the lives of 31 individuals, including a pilot whose helicopter crashed while trying to contain one of the wildfires.
