Rockets were fired from Lebanon towards the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tiberias on the eve of the anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, cross-border attack into Israel, according to Israeli media. Local media reported that at least 10 people were injured in the Sunday evening attack targeting Haifa and Tiberias. Israeli police confirmed some damaged buildings and minor injuries in Haifa. The Iran-backed Hezbollah claimed responsibility, stating that they targeted a military base in Haifa with a salvo of “Fadi 1” missiles before attacking Tiberias. Israeli police stated that officers and bomb disposal experts are addressing multiple sites and managing debris from rockets. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that sirens went off in Haifa when five projectiles were launched from Lebanon and intercepted. The IDF said that another 15 projectiles were launched towards the upper Galilee area, some intercepted, while others fell in the area. The attacks coincided with Israeli military airstrikes on Hezbollah’s infrastructure sites in Beirut, Lebanon.
