Hilarious Photos from the 2024 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards That Will Leave You in Stitches

Established in 2015 by two experienced photographers, the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards is dedicated to showcasing “the lighter side of wildlife photography.” The organization promotes conservation through lighthearted humor.

The submission deadline for the competition is July 31st, but nature enthusiasts can already enjoy the amusement from photos released by Nikon, labeled as the “front-runners” of the contest.

Highlighted below are some of the entertaining submissions for this year:

‘Laughing Out Loud’ by Ingo Hamann

Gracing from Helgoland, Germany, photographer Ingo Hamann captures a delightful image of a newborn seal that appears to be chuckling at a witty jest.

‘Did You Hear The One About The…?’ by Wendy-Kaveney

Categories in the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards encompass different themes like Spectrum Photo Birds, Fish and Other Aquatic Species, Insects, and more. There are also categories for Junior and Young Photographers. The deadline for submissions is July 31st, allowing photographers ample time to send in their funniest shots.

In December, The Gallery@Oxo in London will exhibit the contest’s photos, with the winners being announced at the event. The exhibition will be held from December 10 to 16, showcasing the creativity of wildlife photographers. Winners can look forward to prizes such as a safari in Kenya and an iPad.

Nikon Europe’s senior general manager of marketing, Stefan Maier, expresses excitement for the competition’s future, stating, “With only one month remaining until the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards deadline, we have been delighted by the hilarious entries received so far and eagerly anticipate more entertaining wildlife captures in the coming weeks.”
