Hobart, Australia: Bystanders Commended for Their Efforts to Rescue Mountain Biker


Paramedics tried to revive Mr. MacPherson after arriving around 1:20pm, but were unsuccessful. A friend had called the isolated bike park’s emergency number after Mr. MacPherson fell off his bike and went into cardiac arrest. An off-duty paramedic and a registered nurse joined the group trying to help him, but he went into cardiac arrest. The paramedics weren’t able to revive Mr. MacPherson and he died of severe blunt trauma. The coroner found no issues with the track or Mr. MacPherson’s bike. The group who provided first aid could not have done more to save him.
