Home Secretary Considering Crossbow Laws following Hospitalization of Triple Murder Suspect
Kyle Clifford, the main suspect in a triple murder investigated by Hertfordshire Police, is currently hospitalized after being arrested with injuries.
A former soldier who was apprehended in a cemetery by police in connection with a triple murder is still in the hospital as the new home secretary, Yvette Cooper, deliberates on potential new crossbow laws in the upcoming King’s Speech.
Kyle Clifford, 26, was the subject of a manhunt after an incident involving a crossbow in Bushey, Hertfordshire, that resulted in the deaths of Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25.
The victims were discovered at a residence in Ashlyn Close in Bushey on Tuesday evening. Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson from Hertfordshire Police stated that he believes the women were deliberately targeted.
Mr. Clifford, believed to have military experience in the British Army, departed in 2022. Hannah and Louise Hunt attended Loreto College in St. Albans, where the school expressed condolences to the family.
Security minister Dan Jarvis mentioned that the home secretary is reviewing the situation and will consider a course of action soon. Following the Bushey incident, the Home Office disclosed plans in February to make obtaining crossbows more difficult.
Legislation was finalized in April, but no laws were enacted before the general election campaign. The Home Office is currently evaluating further controls on crossbows based on recent events.
