Home Secretary Says Entire Country Supporting Southport Families as Trial Begins

18-year-old Axel Rudakubana is set to stand trial for three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.

The home secretary expressed condolences to the families affected by the Southport knife attack as Rudakubana faces trial.

Rudakubana will face trial at Liverpool Crown Court for the deaths of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King, and Elsie Dot Stancombe during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to proceed and ensuring a fair trial for all involved.

Rudakubana is also accused of multiple counts of attempted murder and other related charges in connection to the incident.

Rudakubana is also facing charges related to possession of a knife, production of a biological toxin, and possession of terrorism-related information.

The alleged possession of terrorism-related material includes a PDF file containing sensitive information, which was found in his residence.

Prior to the trial, the attorney general advised against publishing any content that could potentially impact the jury’s decision.

Rudakubana has maintained his innocence and the trial is scheduled to last up to four weeks.
