Is the US Capable of Dealing with Conflict on Three Fronts?
Commentary
John Mearsheimer, an eminent U.S. political scientist, asserts that the United States must shift its defense focus from Europe to the Indo-Pacific in order to address China, its primary strategic competitor. However, this may prove challenging due to its involvement in Ukraine and the Middle East. Mearsheimer, known for his realist views in international relations, believes that great powers behave solely in their own self-interests. Unfortunately, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was unable to hear Mearsheimer’s perspective as he was already en route to Washington to advocate for AUKUS at the time.
