Israeli jets strike Houthi targets in Yemen

The Israeli military conducted strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on December 26 in retaliation for attacks against Israel, as announced by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) targeted Houthi military sites in different parts of Yemen in response to unmanned aerial vehicle and surface-to-surface missile attacks on Israel, according to a statement by the IDF on X.

The IAF had previously conducted three strikes against the Houthis.

These targets, including ports, a power plant, and Sanaa International Airport, were used by the Houthis for smuggling Iranian weapons and hosting senior Iranian officials, which the IDF described as the Houthis’ exploitation of civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

The IDF noted in its statement that the Houthis are backed by Iran.
