Keanu Reeves Joins Ontario Hockey Team Temporarily
Actor Keanu Reeves has signed a one-day contract to play with the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires.
Reeves was added to the team’s roster on Aug. 22 in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Windsor-Essex branch. Items signed by the movie star will be auctioned off online, with all proceeds donated to the association.
As of Aug. 24, the current bid was $20,000. There were 12 bids made on the items.
Reeves was born in Beirut but moved to New York and then to Toronto. As an actor, he played a supporting role in the hockey movie “Youngblood” in 1986, which was filmed in Canada.
It’s not the first time Reeves has made a surprise appearance. In 2022, a couple in the UK, Nikki and James Roadnight, had the opportunity to meet and get a photograph with the actor—on their wedding day.
When Reeves appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show, Fallon asked him about the incident and whether he had crashed the wedding. Reeves said he had been invited.
James Roadnight told The Epoch Times that he saw Reeves at the bar and invited him to the reception. Reeves was in the area filming a documentary, according to news reports.
“I said my wife would love to meet him and that he couldn’t miss her because she was the one in the big white dress, and he laughed,” he said at the time.
Later in the evening, he said, the wedding photographer told him that a VIP was outside. The couple invited Reeves inside and took some photos with him.
