Latest Social Media Jab: Trump Refers to Trudeau as ‘Governor’ of the ‘Great State of Canada’
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has once again addressed Canada’s sovereignty, expressing his desire for another meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom he mistakenly referred to as a state “governor.”
This comment seems to be linked to Trump’s recent statement suggesting that Canada could potentially become the 51st state of the U.S., with Trudeau serving as the governor.
Trump also expressed his anticipation for another meeting with the “Governor” to continue their detailed discussions on tariffs and trade, believing that the outcomes will be truly remarkable for everyone involved.
Trump had previously announced his plans to impose these tariffs on Canada and Mexico if they don’t enhance their border security.
During his address in Halifax, Trudeau also mentioned unspecified countries, hinting that they might regret their electoral choices.
Trump’s recent social media post labeling Trudeau as a governor is part of a series of communications from Trump regarding Canada’s status and trade relationship with the U.S.
“If we’re going to subsidize them, let them become a state [of the U.S.],” he remarked.
When asked to comment on Trump’s latest remarks, Liberal ministers affirmed their commitment to defending Canada’s national interest.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland emphasized Canada’s sovereignty, emphasizing the government’s determination to safeguard it.
Other ministers highlighted the importance of focusing on mature, responsible responses rather than reacting impulsively to every statement made.
