London Drugs Addresses Cybersecurity Breach and Commences Infrastructure Reconstruction
Retailer London Drugs is currently reconstructing its data infrastructure with the assistance of top third-party experts to ensure the safe return of its operations online, following a cybersecurity incident that has led to the closure of stores for five days.
In a statement, the store mentions the extensive review needed for billions of lines of data and code, but assures that its teams have been working diligently and making progress.
Based in Richmond, B.C., the company operates over 80 stores in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, all of which have been closed since the cybersecurity breach on Sunday.
The company’s investigation so far has not revealed any indications of compromised customer databases, including those of pharmacy patients and LDExtra members.
The impact of the breach on operations has been significant, and the restoration process is rigorous.
Company president Clint Mahlman states that they are exploring the possibility of reopening with limited service to assist customers sooner, especially those in need of prescriptions.
“The overwhelming support from customers and suppliers, as well as their understanding, has been greatly appreciated by all of us at London Drugs as we strive to reopen in a methodical, safe, and responsible manner, prioritizing the protection of all customers and our London Drugs community,” said Mr. Mahlman.
The statement mentions that the company’s phone lines are active, and customers are encouraged to reach out to their local store or pharmacy for assistance, or visit in person during business hours for immediate support.
