Members of the Liberal Party are set to begin voting in the leadership race.

Now that the debates are over, members of the Liberal party can begin casting advance ballots today to choose their next leader in just under two weeks.

They have the option to submit their ranked ballot preferences by mail or in some cases by phone, with each electoral district carrying a weight of 100 points in the competition.

In the recent debates on Monday and Tuesday, former central bank governor Mark Carney, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, former government House leader Karina Gould, and Montreal businessman Frank Baylis presented their cases to Liberal voters.

Mark Carney is widely considered the frontrunner in the race, leading in endorsements, polls, fundraising, and being the focal point of attacks from the Conservative party.

However, the point-based voting system does not guarantee Carney a win when the Liberals choose Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s successor on March 9.
