Mike Duheme Appointed Permanent Commissioner of RCMP
Mike Duheme has officially been appointed as the new head of the RCMP, after serving in the role on an interim basis for the past year.
Mr. Duheme took over as interim commissioner in March 2023 following the retirement of Brenda Lucki.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced in a press release that Mr. Duheme’s permanent appointment will bring stability to the national police force.
The PMO also stated that Mr. Duheme has been actively working towards advancing the RCMP’s modernization goals.
With a 35-year career as an RCMP officer, Mr. Duheme was previously appointed as the first director of the Parliamentary Protective Service in 2015.
Prior to taking on the role as Lucki’s successor, he held the position of the RCMP’s deputy commissioner of federal policing.
