Netanyahu Declares: No More! Promises to Persist in Battle Against Hezbollah

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed world leaders on Sept. 27, affirming that Israel will “continue degrading Hezbollah” until peace is achieved in the border region with Lebanon.

Netanyahu’s remarks are expected to hinder global efforts aimed at pushing Israel towards a broader cease-fire agreement to prevent escalating conflicts with Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran into a larger regional crisis.

Earlier in the week, the United States, France, and other allies urged Israel to pursue an immediate three-week cease-fire for negotiations with Hezbollah and to prevent an all-out war.

Despite international calls, Netanyahu asserted at the U.N. General Assembly in New York City that Israel will no longer tolerate the daily rocket attacks from Hezbollah forces along the northern border—responding with substantial missile strikes in efforts to suppress the attacks.

“Israel has every right to eliminate this threat and ensure the safety of our citizens,” Netanyahu declared.

“And that’s precisely what we’re doing… we will continue degrading Hezbollah until all our objectives are accomplished.

Netanyahu also defended Israel’s response to the attacks by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 Israelis during surprise incursions into Israel.

Following the Hamas invasion, Hezbollah initiated attacks on Israel, leading to intense fighting that displaced tens of thousands of individuals on both sides of the border.

Israel’s subsequent invasion of the Gaza Strip post-Oct. 7, 2023, attacks faced widespread condemnation for perceived brutality and extensive civilian infrastructure damage.

Netanyahu justified Israel’s actions in Gaza, emphasizing his presence at the United Nations to counter misinformation circulated by other leaders earlier in the week.

“I did not intend to be here this year. My country is at war, fighting for its survival,” Netanyahu stated. “But upon hearing the falsehoods and accusations directed at my country by various speakers, I chose to set the record straight.”

The health authorities in Gaza reported over 41,000 Palestinian casualties attributed to Israel since the conflict began last year; however, the figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.

Netanyahu has challenged these statistics, positing a civilian-to-combatant death ratio of approximately one-to-one.

Netanyahu noted that the conflict could end promptly if Hamas surrendered but cautioned that if they did not, Israel would persist in its offensive until achieving total triumph.

“This conflict can cease immediately. All it requires is for Hamas to surrender, disarm, and release all hostages,” Netanyahu proclaimed. “However, if they don’t comply, we will continue fighting until we achieve unequivocal victory. There is no alternative.”
