New Information Revealed in Samurai Sword Attack Case as Suspect Appears in Court
Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, a dual Spanish-Brazilian national, has been brought to court on charges of murdering 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin in east London.
An individual of Spanish-Brazilian descent, accused of killing a teenage boy with a samurai sword, had previously broken into a home and made threatening statements about God before assaulting a father with a 4-year-old daughter, according to court testimony.
Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court after being charged with the murder of Daniel Anjorin, who was fatally attacked while on his way to school in Hainault, east London.
Monzo is facing additional charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed weapon.
Prosecutor David Burns informed the court that Monzo had broken into a residence where a couple and their 4-year-old daughter were sleeping.
Reportedly, Monzo entered the bedroom and assaulted the father, proclaiming beliefs in God while wielding the sword against him.
While in court, the defendant, dressed in a grey sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms, spoke slowly to confirm his identity.
Driving Incident
Monzo is accused of crashing a van into a fence in Hainault, resulting in injury to a local resident.
Upon exiting the van, Monzo threatened to kill the man and attacked him with the sword.
Following the home invasion, Monzo allegedly approached Daniel from behind, slashing his neck and stabbing him in the chest as he lay on the ground.
Police intervened at this point and attempted to aid the teenager, but were met with resistance from Monzo.
He reportedly attacked a female officer with the sword, causing severe injuries while she was on the ground.
Subsequently, a second officer was also targeted.
According to Aiste Dabasinskaite, a neighbor of Daniel’s family, she tried to warn him but he couldn’t hear her due to wearing headphones.
Witnessing the incident, she described the harrowing events that unfolded before their eyes.
Community Support

Monzo did not enter a plea during the court proceedings, and Chief Magistrate Paul Goldpsring remanded him in custody until his next appearance at the Old Bailey.
His trial is scheduled for later this year or in 2025.
