New Phase of Calgary Water Rationing Begins: Lawns Parched and Dishwashers Overflowing
Calgarians can expect thirstier lawns, shorter showers, and fewer but fuller dishwasher loads as repairs begin on a troubled water main this week.
The Bearspaw South Feeder Main in Calgary’s northwest burst in early June, causing water restrictions that are now returning due to additional problem spots identified on the pipe.
Crews will be reinforcing weak spots with concrete, and the repairs are estimated to take about a month.
During this time, Stage 4 water restrictions will be in place, prohibiting outdoor use of potable water, and residents are asked to reduce indoor water usage.
