New Video Released by Palestinian Islamic Jihad Shows Hostage
JERUSALEM—A video released by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group on Tuesday depicted Israeli hostage Alexander Trufanov, 28, who was captured on Oct. 7.
Similar videos have been put out by Hamas, another terrorist organization in Gaza, but Israel has dismissed them as a form of psychological warfare.
In a separate video released by the family, Mr. Trufanov’s mother expressed joy at seeing her son but also sadness at his prolonged captivity.
Efforts to secure the release of over 120 individuals taken hostage during Hamas’s attack in southern Israel on Oct. 7 have been unsuccessful thus far.
Israel has rejected Hamas’s demand to cease hostilities.
“The confirmation of Alexsander (Sasha) Trufanov’s well-being provides further justification for the Israeli government to empower the negotiation team,” stated the Hostages Families Forum, representing the hostages’ families.
