NSW Police Publish Images of 12 Riot Suspects Connected to Church Stabbing Incident

Nsw Police Superintendent Andrew Evans stated, “We are doing everything we can to identify these men and are now appealing for public assistance.”

New South Wales (NSW) authorities have released the images of 12 men suspected to be involved in a riot that followed the recent stabbing of an Assyrian bishop.

The state police force is asking the public for help in identifying the suspects as the investigation is ongoing.

On April 15, during a live-streamed sermon, a 16-year-old boy who had converted to Islam allegedly stabbed Assyrian Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel multiple times while he was speaking.

The suspect was apprehended and later charged with terrorism as his actions were motivated by extreme religious beliefs.

This incident led to a riot, with a crowd of hundreds from the local community gathering outside the church, chanting and throwing bricks at police officers.

The riot resulted in injuries to dozens of police officers and damage to their vehicles.

The police have charged three men in connection with the riot and are currently pursuing 50 individuals who were believed to have gathered at the church with the intent to cause trouble.

Superintendent Andrew Evans mentioned that the 12 suspects featured in the photos were wanted due to the violence and aggression they displayed.

“We are doing everything we can to identify these men and are now appealing for public assistance,” he said.

“Someone in the community knows who they are.”
