Officials report that heavy rains in Argentina have resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals, with dozens more reported missing.

At least 16 people have been killed in Buenos Aires due to heavy rains that flooded the city on Argentina’s east coast in recent days, officials announced on Sunday.

Rescue teams are currently searching for dozens of individuals who are reported missing, including two girls and two adults who were swept away by floodwaters caused by the continuous rains that started on Friday in Bahía Blanca.

Over 1,450 people have been evacuated from the city, which is located south of Buenos Aires, including patients from a local hospital.

Bahía Blanca has received approximately 12 inches of rain in the past few days, significantly higher than the historical monthly average of about 5 inches.

There is no rain expected for the next 72 hours.
