Patriots Party Volunteer Assaulted at Melbourne Voting Center
A frustrated individual confronted a volunteer from the Trumpet of Patriots and physically assaulted him.
A volunteer at an early voting site in Melbourne’s southeast was attacked by a member of the public, with the incident recorded on video.
The clip, initially shared by political commentator Rukshan Fernando and later reposted by Senator Ralph Babet, depicts a man in a bicycle helmet approaching a volunteer outside the voting booth at the Uniting Church in Pakenham.
In the footage, the man is seen kneeing and punching the volunteer, who was wearing a yellow shirt while distributing vote cards for Clive Palmer’s Trumpet of Patriots party.
“We were built on multiculturalism,” the man is heard saying during the altercation. “These ads aren’t what Australia is about.”
The man also alleges that polling booth volunteers called him a “retard” after he claimed that the Trumpet of Patriots members were racist.
“You are racist,” he exclaimed.

After the incident, Senator Babet, who entered parliament through Palmer’s now-deregistered United Australia Party, stated that the footage revealed Australia teetering on the brink of political turmoil.
“The left has descended into extremism, with their actions becoming increasingly aggressive and intolerant,” he remarked.
“They are unable to reason or engage with anyone whose opinions differ from their narrow perspective.
“Their rhetoric and behavior have turned dangerous, pushing us closer to a tipping point. With political and social division at unprecedented levels, the threat of civil unrest is very real.”
Babet emphasized that the nation is witnessing a breakdown of civility and rational discourse.
“If we don’t reclaim our country, we may see the emergence of political terrorism, and with it, the risk of civil war in our lifetime,” he cautioned.
“This is not alarmism—it’s the reality we face if we don’t oppose the left.”
Melissa Bannister, a Senate candidate for the Trumpet of Patriots in West Australia, described the behavior in the video as “absolutely disgusting.”
“You can’t engage in a rational discussion with these individuals,” she commented.
Authorities stated they are investigating the incident and had visited the scene to speak with the man involved. No arrests or charges have been made yet, but the investigation remains ongoing.
This altercation marks the second incident to arise this week. In a separate video shared by journalist Avi Yemini, a Liberal volunteer is seen being verbally attacked by a man at an early voting center in Ringwood, Victoria.
