Pentagon Reports Over 569 Metric Tons of Aid Stalled at US-Built Pier, Awaiting Delivery to Gaza

The United Nations reported that out of 16 trucks, only five successfully reached the warehouses in Gaza.

According to the Pentagon, over 569 metric tons of humanitarian aid have been transported through the U.S.-built temporary pier to Gaza, but none of it has been distributed to Palestinian civilians yet.

Major General Pat Ryder, a Pentagon spokesperson, mentioned that the U.S., Israel, and the UN are collaborating to find alternative routes for the safe movement of staff and cargo into Gaza.

Ryder also shared that some trucks carrying aid to the warehouses were intercepted by people who took the aid off the vehicles. When asked if any aid had been delivered to civilians in Gaza, Ryder stated that as of that day, none had been distributed.

He added that the aid is currently being transferred from assembly areas to warehouses for further distribution throughout Gaza now that alternative routes have been established.

“Movements from the temporary facility from the assembly area have resumed today,” he said at a press briefing.
