Plans for a Permanent Memorial at the Location of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos Tragedy
There has been significant progress made towards the construction of a permanent memorial for the 2018 Humboldt Broncos hockey team at the site of the deadly bus crash near Tisdale, Saskatchewan, on April 6, 2018.
The Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee unveiled a draft concept plan on April 4 for the memorial located at the intersection of highways 35 and 335.
The site, situated about 170 kilometers northeast of Humboldt, has been adorned with crosses and other commemorations since the tragic incident. The memorial will transform it into a permanent place of remembrance to honor the 16 lives lost and all those affected.
For the memorial committee, this marks a significant milestone.
“I’m excited that we can soon break ground and create something meaningful not only for the families but also for the public,” mentioned Carol Brons in an April 4 news release. Carol is the mother of Dayna Brons, the athletic therapist for the Broncos who passed away due to injuries from the crash.
“We have overcome many obstacles to reach this point. Challenges like relocating power lines, determining the location for a new access road, and ensuring driver visibility at the intersection were just a few hurdles,” she added.

“It’s good to see that we are getting closer to honoring properly those affected by the tragedy,” stated Humboldt Mayor Michael Behiel to The Epoch Times.
