Poilievre Vows to Reduce Federal Public Service if Elected
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says a government led by him would reduce the number of federal public servants, but he supports the idea of them working from home.
When asked by Radio-Canada on Tuesday about U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order requiring federal workers to return to the office five days a week, Poilievre emphasized that the key factor is whether public servants are effectively completing their work.
He expressed concerns that work within the federal government is currently not being efficiently carried out.
Poilievre advocated for clear assignments for public servants and the implementation of monitoring mechanisms to ensure their tasks are being fulfilled.
Additionally, he proposed reducing the federal public service, stating that Canada has an excessive number of bureaucrats, partly due to the federal Liberals hiring 110,000 public servants, contributing to the deficit.
