Police continue search for armed suspect in Melbourne daylight shooting
Police investigating a bold street shooting describe it as a “planned and targeted attack” that could have harmed innocent bystanders.
During an incident in Fawkner, Melbourne’s north, a man was shot in the ankle after being lured to a home under false pretenses of a trades job quote.
In newly released footage, the victim is seen arriving on Denys Street just after 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 3 last year.
Another individual exits a white 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC and runs towards him, shooting his left ankle and continuing through to his right foot.
The victim suffered serious injuries and continues to require ongoing treatment after being rushed to the hospital.
The video shows the shooter quickly returning to the getaway car, bearing cloned plates 1NB7FC, which remains at large.
Authorities believe the address was chosen randomly and the incident is not linked to any residents on the street.
Another witness provided a description of the suspect as African, approximately 182cm tall, slim build, with dark hair and brown eyes.
Detective Inspector Adam Tilley characterized the incident as a “planned and targeted attack,” expressing concern for the safety of bystanders.
He urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need to hold those responsible accountable.
