Police in British Columbia administer Naloxone to revive 5-year-old girl following Fentanyl overdose

Police in Mission, B.C., reported that a five-year-old girl was taken to the hospital last week after she apparently overdosed on fentanyl, requiring multiple doses of naloxone to revive her.

According to Mission RCMP, emergency responders were summoned to a residence on Nottman Street on Thursday, where they discovered the child unconscious after she “allegedly handled a jar containing fentanyl” while taking a bath.

The police stated that adults in the household dialed 911 after the child started vomiting, and paramedics arrived and administered naloxone.

Mounties mentioned that the girl was kept in the hospital overnight and was anticipated to make a full recovery.

Mission RCMP advised individuals who have fentanyl in their home to store it out of reach of children and to seek medical attention if they come into contact with the drug, “even through skin contact.”

They indicated that the case is currently being investigated.
