Police Stop Large Pro-Palestinian Gathering from Disrupting NYC’s Christmas Tree Lighting
Authorities deployed metal barriers to prevent pro-Palestinian protesters from disrupting the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in Midtown Manhattan. The demonstration, which took place on November 29, 2023, drew an estimated crowd of over 1,000 people outside the Fox News headquarters on 6th Avenue.
Police officers tightened security in the area and prepared for the possibility of disruption. Protesters chanted slogans such as “One, Two, Three, Four, Occupation No More,” “Palestine Will Be Free, Cross the River to the Sea,” and “A People United Will Never Be Defeated.”
As the crowd surged, some protesters attempted to push through the barriers, leading to several arrests. Despite efforts to break through, police maintained strong lines and eventually, the crowd dispersed and marched away from the area.
During the demonstration, protesters held up various signs and Palestinian flags, with many wearing headscarves. The protest spread across 6th Avenue and caused a significant gathering outside the Fox News building.
