‘Politicians Condemn Pro-Palestinian Protesters’ Use of Red Paint and Offensive Messages’

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton expressed worry in parliament about elected members’ offices being targeted with “red paint” and “vile messages” by pro-Palestinian protestors.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also voiced his concern about the attacks on electorate offices and emphasized the important work done by staff.
He stated that targeting individuals based on their Jewish identity is completely unacceptable and undermines the cause that protesters claim to support.
Following multiple parliamentarians being targeted with graffiti and vandalism amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, concerns were heightened about social cohesion in Australia.
In response to these events, Prime Minister Albanese highlighted the need to uphold social cohesion as a national asset that everyone has a responsibility to defend.
He emphasized the importance of stopping the conflict in the Middle East from fueling prejudice at home and condemned acts of antisemitism and discrimination.
No Place for Anti-Semitism
Mr. Albanese stressed that there is no place for antisemitism, prejudice, or Islamophobia in communities, universities, or outside electorate offices.
He highlighted the essential work done by parliamentary staff providing assistance to people dealing with various issues and condemned attacks on these offices as anti-democratic and harmful.

Greens Leader Adam Bandt emphasized the need to condemn antisemitism and Islamophobia, while also expressing opposition to the invasion of Gaza.
Labor Offices, US Consulate Targeted by Vandals
Recent incidents involved pro-Palestinian activists allegedly vandalizing the United States Consulate and the offices of several Labor parliamentarians in Victoria.
Phrases like “Glory to the Martyrs” and “Free Gaza” were seen at these offices, sparking concerns about the escalation of violence.
Electorate offices of Attorney General Mark Dreyfus and Government Services Minister Bill Shorten were among those targeted, leading to condemnation of the violent acts.
