Poll Suggests Mark Carney is Preferred by Liberals Over Chrystia Freeland as Next Leader
A recent survey indicates that among Liberal supporters, Mark Carney is the preferred choice as the next leader, surpassing other potential candidates.
Conducted by polling firm Leger over the weekend, the survey included around 1,500 participants who were asked about their preferences for Justin Trudeau’s successor within the party.
Various individuals who have withdrawn from the race or opted not to participate, such as Anita Anand, Steve MacKinnon, Christy Clark, and François-Philippe Champagne, were included in the survey.
Results showed that among Liberal voters, Carney received 27% support, followed by Chrystia Freeland at 21% and Christy Clark at a distant 6%.
Carney and Freeland were almost equal in support among all survey respondents, with Freeland slightly ahead at 14%.
Although neither Carney nor Freeland has officially declared their candidacy, both are anticipated to make announcements during the current week.
The majority of those surveyed—46% overall and 30% of Liberal voters—expressed uncertainty regarding the party’s next leader.
