Possibly Released from Jail this Year: Bike Gang Member Struggling with Injuries

Tarek Zahed was sentenced to three years and six months in prison with a non-parole period of two years and four months in the NSW Supreme Court on March 12.

An ex-high-ranking bikie who survived an ambush that resulted in the death of his brother may be released from prison this year after being convicted of obstructing an investigation into a murder almost ten years ago.

Zahed’s sentence was backdated to his dramatic arrest in August 2022, and he could potentially be released in December of this year.

He avoided a trial on murder and aggravated kidnapping charges by pleading guilty to hindering a police investigation of a serious crime.

Justice Richard Button stated that Zahed’s actions made the police investigation more challenging, as he hindered their efforts, thus leading to his conviction.

While Zahed could be released by the end of the year, it ultimately depends on parole authorities to make that determination, as per the judge.
