Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei Marries His Fiancée in a Lavish 10-day Ceremony

The marriage of Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen and his fiancée Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic is part of an elaborate 10-day ceremony that began on Jan. 7 and will conclude on Tuesday. The 32-year-old prince, once considered one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors, married the 29-year-old Isa-Kalebic in a solemnization ceremony at a mosque on Thursday.

Prince Mateen, the fourth son and 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is renowned for accompanying his father on diplomatic engagements despite being sixth in line to the throne. His engagement to Mrs. Isa-Kalebic, the granddaughter of the ruler’s special advisor, was announced by the sultan in October. The prince, known for playing polo and being a helicopter pilot in the Royal Brunei Air Force, has a strong Instagram following of 2.5 million, while Mrs. Isa-Kalebic reportedly owns a fashion brand and tourism business.

The main wedding reception on Sunday at the 1,788-room palace will be attended by international royalty and dignitaries, and will include a parade through the capital, Bandar Sri Begawan.
