‘Pro-Palestinian Activists’ Resolve to Hold More Aussie Rallies Despite Israel-Hamas Deal’

There has been an arranged truce in the Middle East that will lead to temporary pause in fighting in exchange for the release of hostages. Despite this deal, Pro-Palestinian activists have vowed to continue their protests in Australia this weekend. The truce is between Israel and Hamas, and is supposed to last for at least four days in order to release 50 Israeli hostages. In Australia, local activists released an “urgent” statement saying that they will continue their protests despite the temporary ceasefire. There are planned protests in Sydney and Melbourne, with a School Strike for Palestine happening in Melbourne on Nov. 23. Additionally, there were at least 6,000 parents who wrote to the Premier and education minister to take a stand against the protest, as there were fears of anti-Semitism present. The Victorian Premier and federal politicians also voiced the opinion that students should not leave school to protest. The truce is set to start in the morning and hostages will be released in the afternoon. Here, there are ongoing tensions surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict, including in Australian cities.
