Protest Planned Against Organ Harvesting Before CCP Premier’s Visit

International human rights lawyer David Matas will be shedding light on the inhumane practice of forced organ harvesting carried out by the Chinese state.

Renowned international human rights lawyer, David Matas, is scheduled to address the audience on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra next week, urging the government to continue exposing the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) atrocities related to organ harvesting.

On the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre on June 4, attendees at the rally will call on members of Parliament to publicly denounce the 25-year persecution of the faith group, Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa.

Rally participants will also demand the release of all relatives of Australian residents who have been detained by the oppressive CCP regime.

This event precedes the upcoming visit of CCP Premier Li Qiang to Australia, where he is scheduled to engage in political and business discussions in Sydney, Canberra, and Perth.

Australia has a commitment to upholding human rights, being an original signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 and actively participating in the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Despite this, Mr. Matas, who works globally to raise awareness about forced organ harvesting in China, argues that mere “cosmetic” laws are insufficient to prevent the CCP from unlawfully killing Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience for their organs.

The esteemed Canadian lawyer has released several reports on this systematic practice since 2006 in collaboration with the late David Kilgour, a former Canadian MP (pdf).
Their most recent report from 2016 concluded that the CCP was conducting as many as 100,000 transplants annually, in stark contrast to the CCP’s official claim of 10,000.

John Deller, a member of the Falun Dafa Association of Australia, emphasized that the ongoing review of the Modern Slavery Act in the country should encompass forced organ harvesting as well.

“Many individuals associate organ harvesting with coercive and abusive kidney transplants. However, human trafficking laws have yet to address the more insidious form of this atrocity perfected by the Chinese communist regime against Falun Gong practitioners,” he conveyed to The Epoch Times.

“It is crucial for Australians to remain vigilant of Chinese communist influence as it has the potential to erode our core values by prioritizing materialistic gains over the preservation of human life,” Mr. Deller remarked.

In a previous article for The Epoch Times, Mr. Matas disclosed the underlying motivations of the CCP behind forced organ harvesting, identifying it as a lucrative “bonanza” for the Chinese public sector.

“The healthcare system swiftly realized that the large population of demonized Falun Gong practitioners who were arbitrarily detained indefinitely presented an opportunity to profit from the sale of their organs on a global scale,” he stated.

“This industrial scale organ selling soon became an addiction for the healthcare system, demanding a constant supply of new organs to sustain its activities.

“The scale of killing Falun Gong practitioners for their organs grew substantially, coupled with the effective suppression of the Falun Gong group. With the mass detention of Uyghurs in Xinjiang, the organs of Uyghurs have also become a commodity for transplants.”

Lucy Zhao, the president of the Falun Dafa Association of Australia, is hopeful that the federal government will refrain from merely normalizing relations with Beijing while turning a blind eye to human rights violations.

She aspires for the Australian government to use Premier Li’s visit as an opportunity to deliver a clear message and demand an end to the persecution.

“Numerous human rights violations are occurring in China presently, with Falun Gong practitioners enduring the worst treatment,” she highlighted.
