Quebec Man Receives Sentence for Creating 3D-Printed Guns and Spreading Anti-Semitic Hate Speech Online
A man from Quebec has been given a five-year prison sentence after admitting guilt to charges that include hate speech against Jews and the 3D printing of firearms.
Pascal Tribout, aged 38, received his sentence on Wednesday at the St-Jérôme courthouse, located north of Montreal.
In December, he pleaded guilty to offenses involving the possession and dissemination of data for creating 3D-printed guns, as well as an attempt to manufacture several prohibited firearms.
Additionally, he admitted to willfully promoting hatred towards the Jewish community.
The prosecuting attorney in the case mentioned that Tribout is the first Canadian to be sentenced to prison under a new provision in the Criminal Code that prohibits the possession and sharing of computer data that can be used for manufacturing firearms.
During the investigation into the firearms, the RCMP uncovered Tribout’s dissemination of antisemitic hate speech on the social media platform Telegram.
