Quebec Police Stop Pro-Palestinian Encampment at Université Laval

Authorities in Quebec City have taken action to dismantle a pro-Palestinian encampment that was being established on the grounds of Université Laval.

Police reported that three individuals were issued tickets and one person was detained and brought to the police station in order to prevent further violations.

In a statement, law enforcement officials explained that they intervened on the school premises on Saturday evening where approximately 30 protesters, some of whom were setting up the encampment, were present.

Officers clarified that the encampment contravened a municipal bylaw prohibiting the unauthorized setup of tents and structures on public property.
