Quebec to Present Budget on March 25 with Emphasis on Infrastructure and Tariffs
Quebec’s finance minister will present the province’s upcoming budget on March 25, focusing on supporting businesses and workers in light of the economic impact of U.S. tariffs.
Eric Girard has stated that the budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year will outline Quebec’s strategy to “bolster the province amidst economic uncertainty.”
Earlier this week, Quebec Premier François Legault requested Girard to allocate funding to expedite key infrastructure projects, such as schools, hospitals, and transportation.
The premier also mentioned that the budget will encompass financial support for Investissement Québec, the province’s investment agency, along with newly introduced loan programs for businesses affected by the 25 percent U.S. tariffs imposed on Canadian goods on Tuesday.
In November, Girard delivered an economic update portraying a positive outlook on the province’s economic advancement, despite an estimated $11 billion deficit.
While Girard had previously shared the government’s objective to balance the budget by the 2029-30 fiscal year, the impact of the tariffs on this plan remains uncertain.
