RCMP charges Vancouver Island man with child luring and creating sexual abuse material
Authorities in British Columbia have reported that a man from Vancouver Island has been apprehended and charged with child exploitation offenses after a tip-off from American officials.
The RCMP stated that the B.C. Integrated Child Exploitation Unit was alerted by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations in September regarding a suspect who was purportedly exploiting children through a social media platform.
Law enforcement identified a suspect in Langford, B.C., near Victoria, who allegedly enticed three girls and exploited them by producing and sharing child sexual abuse materials online.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in Langford in January, leading to the arrest of a 31-year-old man from the area.
The BC Prosecution Service has sanctioned seven charges against the man, including two counts of child luring and one count each of possessing, accessing, and producing child pornography.
The suspect has been released under several conditions, including restrictions on internet usage and contact with minors under the age of 16.
