RCMP Charges Vancouver Island Man with Child Luring and Producing Sexual Abuse Material
Authorities in British Columbia have reported the arrest and charging of a man from Vancouver Island for child exploitation offences after receiving a tip from American authorities.
The RCMP, in a statement, mentioned that the B.C. Integrated Child Exploitation Unit was informed by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations in September about a suspect who was allegedly exploiting children through a social media platform.
After identifying a suspect in Langford, B.C., just outside Victoria, the Mounties found that he had lured three girls and exploited them by creating child sexual abuse materials that were posted online.
Following a search warrant in January at a residence in Langford, a 31-year-old man from the area was apprehended by officers.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved seven charges, including two counts of child luring and one count each of possessing, accessing, and making or publishing child pornography.
The man has been released under certain conditions, including limitations on his internet usage and contact with children under 16.
