RCMP Officer in Alberta Charged with Sexual Assault Following Hotel Party

A female RCMP officer from Alberta has been charged with sexual assault in connection with a 2022 hotel room party.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate a Leduc-based RCMP officer in December of 2022 after allegations of sexual assault surfaced in connection with a party earlier that month, the agency said in a

press release

this week.

The incident was alleged to have occurred in the early hours of Dec. 3, 2022, in an Airdrie hotel room while a group of people were socializing, the press release said.

The investigation was forwarded to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) to determine whether the evidence met the standard for prosecution.

“Following a review of the investigation and having been advised by the ACPS that the evidence met their standard for prosecution, ASIRT Assistant Executive Director Matthew Block determined that the involved officer should be charged,” the police watchdog said.

Const. Bridget Morla has been charged with two counts of sexual assault in connection with the investigation.
