Reform UK Secures 4 Seats with Farage Elected as MP
Reform UK has experienced a surge in votes during the general election, resulting in four new MPs, including Nigel Farage, at the expense of the Conservatives.
Reform UK has secured four seats in Parliament, with party leader Nigel Farage declaring it as the “beginning of the end” for the Conservatives.
Mr. Farage clinched victory in the Essex constituency of Clacton, unseating sitting Conservative MP Giles Watling.
Lee Anderson, who switched from the Conservatives to Reform, maintained his seat in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
Richard Tice, Reform’s party chairman, won in Boston and Skegness, defeating Conservative MP Matt Warman.
The fourth Reform MP is businessman and former Southampton football club chairman Rupert Lowe, who triumphed in Great Yarmouth, another win from the Tories.
All four wins were in areas with strong support for leaving the European Union in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Mr. Farage stated that Reform has shifted focus from the EU matter to challenging the Tories on various other issues.
‘Massive Gap on the Centre-Right of British Politics’
In his address following the Clacton election count, Mr. Farage emphasized, “It’s not just disappointment with the Conservative party, there is a massive gap on the centre-right of British politics and my job is to fill it.”
He assured journalists that Reform is a “non-racist, non-sectarian” party, after disowning three candidates for their offensive social media remarks.
Mr. Farage also foretold that this outcome marks the “beginning of the end” for the Conservative Party.
