Resistance against Australian ‘Misinformation and Disinformation’ Bill Grows Stronger
Two independent Senators, Tammy Tyrrell and David Pocock, have stated their opposition to the Labor government’s Misinformation and Disinformation bill.
Senator Tammy Tyrrell from Tasmania has raised concerns about the bill’s impact on defining “truth” and its potential slippery slope effect, citing the importance of free expression for a healthy democracy.
Similarly, David Pocock, independent Senator for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), will oppose the legislation in its current form, calling for significant changes to protect freedom of speech.
