Rethinking Hydrogen Policy: Reducing Truck Pollution is Imperative




According to a report, Australia must enhance its policies and plans to support hydrogen trucks or risk falling behind other countries in reducing emissions from heavy transport. The report, released by the CSIRO on Monday, also suggests that Australia should establish centralized locations for hydrogen production instead of individual service stations in order to keep prices low. Additionally, the report advises investing in specialized carbon fibre tankers for transporting hydrogen fuel. These recommendations follow the closure of the consultation period for Australia’s National Hydrogen Strategy review and the recent opening of the first hydrogen refueling facility at a service station in Brisbane, which involved companies like BP Australia and BOC.
