Rights Campaigner Affirms that Falun Gong Principles are Universal Human Values Applicable to All People
In a recent event, Benedict Rogers praised the values of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, and expressed deep sadness over the persecution faced by Falun Gong practitioners.
Rogers, who co-founded the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission, highlighted that the principles of Falun Gong are universal values that everyone should embrace. He made these remarks ahead of a celebration marking the anniversary of Falun Gong’s introduction 32 years ago on May 13, 1992.
Notably, Downing Street extended its support to Falun Gong practitioners, sending their best wishes and expressing concern over the ongoing persecution in China. The spiritual practice of Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, promotes meditation, slow-moving exercises, and moral teachings based on truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.
Despite attracting millions of followers in China by 1997, Falun Gong practitioners faced severe oppression after the Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin initiated a campaign against the group in 1999. Adherents who refuse to renounce their beliefs endure various forms of persecution, including torture, arbitrary detention, and forced organ harvesting.
An independent tribunal chaired by British barrister Sir Geoffrey Nice found that Falun Gong practitioners were among the main victims of forced organ harvesting in China. Rogers described the persecution as heartbreaking and emphasized the peaceful nature of Falun Gong practitioners.

Rogers expressed admiration for the practitioners he had met, highlighting their hospitality, generosity, kindness, and commitment to living out their values peacefully. He called for continued support for all persecuted groups in China, urging people to uphold the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.
