School in Sydney Locked Down and Staff Injured as Student Reportedly Brandishes Knife
The NSW Police Force confirmed that no students were injured during the incident.
A secondary school in Sydney went into lockdown after a student reportedly brought a knife to the campus, resulting in a staff member sustaining a minor injury.
According to a statement from the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force obtained by The Epoch Times, emergency services responded to the incident at Chifley College Dunheved campus in St Marys at around 1:20 p.m. on May 9.
Upon arrival, police discovered that a staff member had a small laceration after attempting to confiscate the knife from the student.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the staff member and took the student to the hospital for assessment,” the statement explained.
“No students were harmed during the incident.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
Chifley College issued a statement confirming that the school was on lockdown temporarily and that all students and staff were safe.
“To our school community, we are currently in lockdown,” the statement assured.
“Please be assured all students and staff are safe. More information will be provided shortly. Thank you.”
Chifley College, established in 2000 by merging five high schools, includes the Dunheved Campus, which caters to students from grade 7 to grade 10.
This incident adds to recent stabbing attacks across the country, sparking concerns about public safety.
