Scotiabank Resolves Issue Preventing Pay and Cheque Deposits Due to Technical Glitch
Scotiabank has successfully resolved a technical issue that caused some customers’ payments to not be deposited into their accounts.
Customers started reporting payment issues on July 26, with many expressing concerns on social media.
The problem was resolved before 2 p.m., according to a spokesperson for The Epoch Times.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the earlier technical issue to our clients, and we appreciate their patience during this time,” a statement sent to The Epoch Times mentioned.
“We have fixed the technical issue affecting our clients’ inbound payments. Clients will begin to see their payments reflected in their accounts.”
Scotiabank assured in their email that customers would be reimbursed for any fees incurred due to the technical glitch.
Around 73% of customers reported deposit issues, with 15% mentioning online banking problems and 12% facing challenges with mobile banking, as per the site.
Scotiabank’s incident comes after a recent global IT outage that disrupted various services including banks and flights.
The outage resulted from a flaw in a Windows software update by cybersecurity company CrowdStrike.
The bank clarified that the outage occurred due to computers struggling to process a large data volume, terming it a batch processing problem affecting multiple systems.
