Security Breach at Park’N Fly Exposes One Million Customer Records
Park’N Fly, an airport parking service, has confirmed a significant data breach in its network last month, affecting one million customers’ personal files.
The breach was a result of unauthorized access by a third party using illicit remote VPN access between July 11 and July 13. However, the company reassured customers that no financial information was compromised.
Upon discovery, Park’N Fly’s IT team initiated an investigation with their cybersecurity partner to determine the extent of the accessed information. They restored all platforms within five days and confirmed that no credit card or password data was stored on their servers.
Affected information may include customer names, email and mailing addresses, as well as Aeroplan and CAA account numbers. The company has reached out to impacted customers.
Park’N Fly Canada CEO Carlo Marrello emphasized their commitment to customer trust and security, stating that they are implementing measures to safeguard information and ensure system integrity.
To enhance security, Park’N Fly has ramped up surveillance and updated anti-virus software. They’ve also implemented technical and administrative measures to bolster network security.
Previously under different ownership, Park’N Fly was acquired in May 2014 for $397.5 million. CK Hutchison Holdings has a global presence, including operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and China.
