Senate Inquiry Examining Potential Side Effects of COVID-19 Vaccine and Excess Mortality

The inquiry is investigating the potential side effects of COVID-19 vaccines to determine if they are linked to excess deaths.

Australian citizens concerned about the rise in excess deaths in recent years now have the opportunity to voice their opinions to the parliament through a new Senate inquiry that has moved online.

Following the establishment of a Senate inquiry into excess mortality last week ending March 31, the Australian parliament has set up a dedicated page on its website for the inquiry, enabling concerned individuals and groups to submit their feedback.

According to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, excess mortality increased from -3.1% in 2020 to 1.6% in 2021, 11.7% in 2022, before dropping to 6.1% in 2023.

In 2022 alone, there were nearly 20,000 cases of excess deaths.

The inquiry was launched after a narrow 31-30 vote in the parliament passed a motion put forward by United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet on Feb. 26.

Senator Babet had support from the Opposition, One Nation Party, and some independent senators, while the Labor and the Greens opposed the motion.

In a social media post, Senator Babet mentioned that this was a chance for Australians to share their thoughts on the matter.

“Many submissions are expected from individuals and professional organizations, with public hearings anticipated later this year,” he commented.

“This is the perfect moment to speak up. If you have relevant experiences, knowledge, or insights, please prepare a submission for the committee.”

Australians can submit their feedback online through the parliament website, or they can send correspondence to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee responsible for investigating the issue.

Senator Babet also mentioned that the committee aims to finalize a report by the end of August.

“May this committee process provide a platform for the families of the deceased and provide the answers our nation seeks,” he stated.

Senate Committee to Investigate Side Effects of COVID-19 Vaccines

In an interview with 2GB Radio, Senator Babet mentioned that the inquiry would focus on the potential side effects of COVID-19 vaccines to determine any potential relation to excess deaths.

“There has to be some link to the vaccines in this situation,” he stated.

“At the end of this process, I want a clear answer—whether the vaccines played a role, didn’t play a role, or if further investigation is needed.”

Simultaneously, Senator Babet highlighted the challenges faced when initiating the inquiry, alleging that many politicians were reluctant to investigate the matter.

“For the past few years, most senators have avoided taking action… they prefer to ignore the issue,” he expressed.

“They want to sweep things under the rug. That’s not acceptable. This is Australia, not a communist regime.”

On the other hand, Labor Senator Tim Ayres criticized the parliament’s decision to investigate excess deaths, labeling it as opportunistic.

“Certain individuals in politics see fear as an opportunity to create division and spread fear among people,” he remarked.

Independent Senator David Pocock, while dismissing COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy theories, emphasized the importance of investigating excess mortality.

“I don’t buy into the vaccine conspiracy theories circulating. However, there is data showing an increase in excess mortality rates in recent years,” he acknowledged.
