Several Car Brands Recalled in Canada—Is Yours Affected?
Recall notices have been issued by Transport Canada for various vehicles in the past week due to safety concerns such as faulty door latches and potential battery fires.
Several vehicle brands have been affected by recalls, either for newly discovered issues or for follow-up repairs to address ongoing problems.
Here’s a list of trucks, sedans, and SUVs that have been included:
Mercedes-Benz
Over 5,000 Mercedes-Benz Metris vans from model years 2016 to 2019 are being recalled due to a risk of tire failure that could lead to a crash, according to an updated recall notice from Transport Canada.
The recall states that certain vehicles have axle weight ratings exceeding the allowed tire load capacity, which could result in tire overload.
“Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash,” the notice warns.
Transport Canada is also recalling 341 hybrid AMG Mercedes-Benz models due to a software issue that could lead to a loss of power to the wheels.
The 2024 and 2025 model years of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class are affected by this recall.
A single 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class is being recalled due to potential manufacturing defects in the rear passenger seat rails, as stated in the notice. This issue could cause seat movement during a collision.
Owners of the impacted Mercedes-Benz vehicles will receive a notification by mail to bring their vehicles to a dealership for repair.
Ford
Transport Canada states that certain 2021 and 2022 Ford EcoSport SUVs may have improperly installed front axle shafts, affecting vehicles equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
If the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied, there is a risk of it rolling away, potentially leading to a crash.
Over 200 F-150 Lightning electric trucks from model years 2022 to 2024 are being recalled due to concerns related to battery performance. The notice from Transport Canada warns of potential overheating and short circuit of the battery modules.
Ford advises owners to adjust the maximum charge setting to 80 percent until repairs are completed.
Another recall notice addresses a software issue affecting 39 Ford pickup trucks, resulting in an incorrect rearview camera image when in reverse.
Only trucks with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature are impacted by this recall.
Owners will be notified by mail to visit a dealership for necessary updates.
