Several Fatalities After Vehicle Plows into Crowd at Vancouver Street Festival
Several individuals have lost their lives and many more suffered injuries after a vehicle plowed into a gathering during a street festival in Vancouver, according to local authorities.
The driver has been apprehended.
The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. local time on Saturday, at the junction of Fraser Street and East 41st Avenue, where the Filipino community was celebrating Lapu Lapu Day Block Party, as reported by Vancouver Police said.
“We will share more details as the investigation progresses,” the police statement noted.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim expressed in a statement on X, “I am shocked and heartbroken by the devastating event at today’s Lapu Lapu Day celebration.”
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted and with Vancouver’s Filipino community during this extremely challenging time,” he added.
